Legendary Man of the Theatre

To walk into a TCG conference with Edgar was an experience. There was hardly a person there who did not turn to greet him with a broad knowing smile and embrace—either because they had worked beside him, or simply knew of his extraordinary career as a great man of the theatre. This was true when we traveled to theatre festivals in Prague and Moscow as well. It is impossible to reconcile death with this vibrant man. His accomplishments speak for themselves in his distinguished and long list of credits. His enduring twenty-six-year partnership with Arvin Brown at Long Wharf speaks to the ethic of loyalty he lived. Over the past five years we at CITF have been so deeply privileged to work with him...to have attended the University of Edgar. He taught us all with patience, glee and unwavering enthusiasm for the arts. His every decision was guided by common denominators of fairness and honesty. Always, Edgar took the high ground. Edgar lives in our hearts and minds as a shining example of life beautifully lived and we shall miss him every single day.
